Qualification Requirements

The student’s family must reside in DeKalb County, Ga.  (Please note: If your child is eligible to attend Decatur City schools, he/she is ineligible to attend DeKalb County district schools.  In that case, we cannot accept an application.)  Under our charter, priority will be given to children whose families live in the following school zones:  Avondale, Allgood, Hanbrick, Idlewood, Dunaire, Forrest Hills, Indian Creek, Jolly, Mclendon, Medlock, Rowland, Rockbridge, Stone Mill and  Stone Mountain.

According to state law, for entrance into kindergarten, the student must be at least age five by Sept. 1, and for first grade, at least age six by Sept. 1.

Text Box: Students come to our school on foot, in cars and carpools, on bikes, and on the school bus.

We still have a few openings in classes for the 2007-2008 school year. Applications may be turned into or mailed to any of the following locations:

· The ICS main office at 3260 Covington Hwy., Avondale, 404 499 8969.

· Refugee Family Services at 3647 Market Street, Clarkston, 404 299-6217.

Applications may also be faxed to ICS at 404 499 8968.

Note:  Completing an application does not ensure a place at ICS.  If there are more applications than places available at the time of the application deadline, ICS will conduct a lottery to award the places (as per Georgia law.)

An application that you can print out and mail or fax to our school is here.

Our school is a tuition-free, public charter school. This page includes information about our admissions process.
